Tenuous visual puns of train station names. What's not to love?
Virgin had taken over the east coast mainline and wanted to create some social buzz - educating everyone that there were now two lines and tons of new destinations.
IDEA: The Station Name Game
We knew what worked in social; short videos and big prizes. So we created a simple snappy competition where people had to guess the station name from our increasingly tenuous visual puns.
A video was posted each day and shared by the opposing coast - helping to get the message across to both customer bases that there were now two different lines.
The reveal video was posted and the winner announced the very next day to keep everyone interested. And in hysterics.
Bringing the East and West Coasts together
The videos went down a storm, with over 1M views and 15k entries to the competition. But our biggest achievement was getting the two coasts' social accounts working together - bigging each other up and firing friendly banter back and forth... much like a 90s rap battle.
